Yes, indeed! I remember Coney Island in the 1940s. Steeplechase Park and Luna Park; many major fires. Nathan's Hot Dogs and The Cyclone roller coaster. Lot's of great memories.
Yeah . . . i remember my folks taking me to Coney Island when I was a kid in the late 40's & early 50's . . . first we'd go to Steeplechase (The Funny Place). You'd get a round ticket that they punched at each ride . . . the slides, the barrel roll, the Whip . . . I couldn't wait until I was big enough to ride the mechanical horses that ran around the roof. Then it would be on to Nathan's for lunch (or dinner), and off to the Cyclone, and the Wonder Wheel. My folks never would let me ride the Parachute Jump. Oh, well . . .
