DUMBO is the name of the neighborhood. It stands for Down Under The Manhattan Bridge Overpass. The area is small consisting of a few blocks only. The blocks are actually still cobble stone. Very expensive area, almost all the buildings are post-industrial warehouses converted to huge lofts. This building itself was once a warehouse revolutionary in its architecture for being built out of concrete, which allowed for the larger windows. I know some cheaper apartments start at $1,500 per square foot. Simply put, it's the new TriBeCa. Also, Engine 205 and Ladder 118 are normally 2nd due to this area. Must have been initially out.
