Still Roosevelt, except now it's called "Mount Sinai West" since it was taken over by Mt. Sinai.  St. Luke's on Amsterdam Avenue and 113 Street was also taken over by Mt. Sinai and had a name change as well.  Last I heard, it's alternately called "Mt. Sinai North" or "Mount Sinai-St Luke's".  There was quite a lot of anger among the staffs at each facility when Mt. Sinai decided in secret to eliminate the histories and legacies of the two renowned and venerable hospitals.

Since St. Vincent's in the Village closed several years ago, there are no hospitals on the West Side south of Roosevelt (as I still call it).  Someday that's going to turn out to be an unfathomable mistake that will turn around and bite the people of the West Side down to the Battery square on the butt.  It's especially dire since what's essentially a whole new city is being constructed over the Hudson Yards and there are no plans to provide a new acute care facility or a Trauma Center for the tens of thousands of new residents and commuters who are supposed to flood into that part of Chelsea.  An interesting point that I read somewhere is that Dan Doctoroff, who was a major player in the Bloomberg administration and pushed through zoning changes and otherwise facilitated the development of the  Hudson Yards project, left city government to become one of the top executives in that organization.

I think it was more toward the mid-1980s that the Archdiocese established the AIDS treatment program at St. Clare's.

Definitely in the mid to late 80's. I was transferred from the area in 1981 and it was still St. Clare's. The apartments across 51st street from the ER entrance was all nursing residences.
