Location: Grand Central Parkway Eastbound before 188 Street

Multi-vehicle crash with entrapment.

0630 - Queens - Battalion 50, we are also assigning Engine 315 and Ladder 125 because we don't know the exact location.

0632 - E-301 - The accident is located Eastbound right at 188 Street.

0634 - L-150 - We have a confirmed pin.

0637 - Bn. 50 - We have 2 persons pinned. Ladder 150 has their tool in operation. Ladder 151 is on scene.

0639 - Bn. 50 - All Hands - We have 3 vehicles involved. Victims being extricated.

0649 - Bn. 50 - Both victims have been extricated. We have a total of 7 patients. 2 Red, 1 Green, 1 Black, 2 Yellow, and 1 Red pediatric. All are being transported by EMS.

That's a lot of units ...Does't that seem like a bit much ?

Not sure if this happened here, but most of these accidents are called in by passing drivers.  In the short time it takes to actually speak to a dispatcher, they often have traveled quite a distance and can't recall exactly where the accident is.  It's also amazing how many of these drivers have no idea what direction they are going.  So the dispatcher will often have units respond from different directions to narrow down the location.  Also, traffic back up plays a role.

always get 2 & 2 & chief for all highway boxes the rescue if it comes in as an auto extrication...the squad and the next avail truck for all confirmed pins on top of that.
