I believe they had a seven hour window to get the plant back on line before they had to dump raw sewage.....if they did dump then i guess unfortunately they could not get it repaired in time.

Fri 1530 hrs 1/2 hour news conference on NY1 w/OEM & DEP discussing the continued dumping of raw sewage into the Hudson which is now impacting beaches in SI & BKLYN.....also a caution not to eat any fish caught in the Hudson.......they are "hopeful" that they will get the plant back on line soon.

I spoke to the 46*BN Chief who was the rebreather Chief at this job....he said the operation went well.... at the time the search/survey using the Draegers was conducted there was generally good visibility however due to the extreme heat of the day even though the mask is rated for four hours .....after about an hour & half the Units were approaching being overheated & had to be relieved....this was the first time since the FDNY was equipped w/the modern Draegers that they were used at an actual operation.......the original FDNY Rescue Cos had a much earlier version of a Draeger hence the mask w/the double hose in the Rescue Insignia.
