I'm retired over 15 years, had literally hundreds of compactor fires in thre Bronx and Queens. I can't recall using typically more than 1 + 2.
A standpipe line to the chute, 1 truck to the chute-clear the blockage, compactor room and roof vent. The other truck to search for possible victims of smoke inhalation.

Fire on top floor: add’l engine for pressure? Or manpower given distances. No longer as familiar with FDNY SOPs.
