From FDNY on Facebook (FDNY photos):

"Yesterday evening, FDNY units responded to the intersection of East 23 Street and 1st Avenue for a bus collision. Units encountered two buses that were damaged and numerous people with injuries. In total 67 patients were evaluated for injuries, 32 of those were transported to local hospitals. All injuries were considered non-life threatening.
“Units arrived quickly to find two buses that had been involved in a serious accident, complicated by the fact that one was a double decker bus. Units did a good job getting them off the bus quickly. We needed some ladders and ropes to get some of the people down because one of the egress to the bus was damaged,” said FDNY Deputy Chief Kevin Murphy. FDNY EMS Deputy Chief Paul Hopper said, “The cooperation from all the emergency responders on this incident was wonderful. We are all quite fortunate it was not much worse.”
