Does anyone know how the NYPD Arson and Explosion Squad works in relation to FDNY Fire Marshals? I thought the fire marshals handled the investigations and even arrests. Does the NYPD supplement the investigations or have their own separate cases?
Well of course they will be completely separate, NYPD duplicates every other service FDNY has so why not this too?  Maybe someday NYC will have a mayor that realizes that FDNY can handle such things is Hazardous Materials, Vehicle Extrications, etc. without NYPD sticking their nose in and getting in the way.  Maybe that same mayor would even realize that the UCT system is a complete farce and gets rid of it!  I'm not holding my breath however.
