Fire on the 7th floor of a 12 story 80x200 MD.

0553 - MD - We are receiving reports of fire on the 5th floor, a jumper down, and the manual alarm.

0555 - Bn. 12 - Have all companies respond in on a 10-20.

0600 - Bn. 12 - We have a jumper down on the rear setback.  Also, please transmit the 10-75, we have fire in Apt. 7J.

L-30 FAST  -  E-59 4th Engine

0605 - Bn. 12 - All Hands - 1 L/S/O, searches in progress.

0607 - Bn. 12 - At this time, primaries are negative in the fire apartment and public hallway. 

0618 - Div. 3 - Requesting an additional Engine and Truck (E-58, L-26).

0619 - Div. 3 - Make Box 1464 a 10-77.

0623 - Div. 3 - MBFKD, we have a heavy smoke condition throughout the building, primaries are negative, Command Cannel has been established.

0631 - Div. 3 - We have (1) 10-45 code 2.

0650 - Div. 3 - Smoke has lifted, secondaries underway.  PWH - Duration 1 hour.

0656 - Div. 3 - Secondaries are complete and negative.  We have (1) 10-45 code 4.  Under Control - Duration 1 hour 6 minutes.

0658 - Div. 3 - Per EMS, the original 10-45 code 2 is now a 10-45 code 1.

The battalion having the companies come in on a 10-20 for reports of a job ?  With Reports of a fire on the 5th floor a manual alarm and a jumper down.  That doesn't seem right

I'm not doubting what you heard I'm just saying that's a little werid to transmit that signal before gettin 84 or at all considering the info you already have

I too thought it was weird the BC gave a 10-20 with the reports being what they were, although I wasn't there so who knows. My guess is that there was nothing further on this job until they got 10-84 and found the jumper in the rear and investigated thus finding the fire. Being the 12th BC is housed with 35/14, they would be responding together to this one so no one really got on scene first before anyone else - and it might of took some time to actually find out what was going on - in the mean time, 10-20 given. Just my guess on what happened...
