That street and the street in front of the school (Forgot the name) were always drag race central at night. What made it even worse was that the trauma center was at the other end of the island. It was a long ride up Hylan Blvd. for both the patient and the crew.

I would think 151 and 164 with 76 and 84.
Definitely close for 2nd due between 167/87 and 151/76. Still think 167/87 to this area of Huguenot as 2nd due with 151/76 3rd due. That’s just a guess though but I do know the actual border is a few blocks in either direction maybe. Short run for 164/84.

Luten is front of school, Eyelant is side, Chilsom is rear. Not sure exactly which street this happened on but the initial call was for Luten Ave. As you mentioned, Luten and Chilsom are both straightaways with no traffic late at night whatsoever.

Location was always a drag racing site - no people, no buildings, no lights, wide road. It was also a good location for brush fires - spring, summer, fall.

Engine 167.Ladder 87 is closer. Either Annadale Rd-Amboy Rd or the Expressway is faster for Annadale companies. Tottenville to Huguenot is a longer distance on a winding Amboy Road that goes thru a couple of busy areas (Pleasant Plains and Princess Bay).

It is still funny that Tottenville HS is still called "Tottenville HS" although it is located in Huguenot. The old Tottenville HS - actually in Tottenville - was a small, quaint building and campus that always had its doors open to play basketball and use its facilities. Both old and new THS required or requires a good walk to the SIRT.

Old THS - actually in Tottenville:

Newer THS building built in 1972. Old building pictured above has since been a middle school, IS34.
