A plane that had just missed its landing at tweed new haven airport crashed into 2 houses on charter oak road across from James street in east haven ct. For those who don't know tweed is a small airport half in new haven and half in east haven just north of long island sound. The plane was in contact with the tower and no distress call was issued. The plane was a twin engine turbo prop and was attempting a instrumental assisted landing after it missed its first landing, it had departed teterboro airport in New Jersey about 25 min earlier. Two houses were directly hit and were fully envolved as well as at least one car upon fd arrival. The houses were close to the airport however there is a distance and multipul other houses in between. Media reports one house was empty and the other was occupied by a mother and two children ages 1 and 13. The mother made it out but unfortunately the children did not make it out. There were no survivors on the plane and it is unknown how many were on the plane. East Haven responded with a full box assignment and immediately request mutual aide from new haven who responded with a full box and Branford who responded with a full group for RIT. East haven and Branford took one house and new haven took the other.
East Haven response was engine 1(75ft quint), 4, 6, truck 3, rescue 1,  squads 1, 2 cars 1,2,4,5,6
New haven response was engines 16, 5(65ft quint 500gal water 500gal foam), 17, squad 1, truck 3, emergency 1(medic unit), cars 31(chief), 32 (deputy Chief), 33 (east battalion chief), 36 ( director of training/ safety off), 38 ( asst chief administration), 39 ( asst chief operations) 
Branford response engines 1,4, rescue 1, MED 1,2, Car 6.
New Haven also staged squad 2 with the LDH wagon and truck 1 with car 44 (foam truck) at there Woodward ave station which is about a mile away.
Branford also covered east haven hq station
Thoughts and prayers with the family's affected.

Just got back from the scene..............this is one of those calls that no one wants to go to...............Box came in for a plane into houses......Pulling out onto Main St we could see a large black header......Before our arrival an off-duty firefighter who lives a street behind the crash site and heard the crash and an off-duty Battalion Chief who owns a business a few blocks away got there a made a valiant rescue attempt to get to the kids in the room that took the direct hit but the fuel ignited forcing them out of the structure. Our Chief arrived first and immediately requested mutual aid..........New Haven transmitted their owe box assignment..........Branford also send resources. Engine 1 set up in front and went to work on the house where the children were in..........while a firefighter from the rescue company and the safety officer went into a back window to conduct a search..........The firefighter of the rescue went to the second floor and at that time fire raced up the stairs behind him.......he shut the door and went to the window requesting assistance.........a member of one of our volunteer companies along with a police sargent threw a ladder to the window and climbed out as the bedroon door burned off it's hinges. Squad 5 and Truck 3 arrived and made the attack on the
2nd structure................NHFD E16 arrived and was requested to secure another water source since our 5" supply line was rupturing possibly by being run over by a car..................NHFD E5 arrived and assisted with fire suppression on the 2nd structure and the now burning car in the driveway................Branford arrived and went to the roof on the ladder of our engine 1 and vented the roof for us as we were battling fires in the walls and ceilings. Still unsure of the exact number of fatalities as the scene is being processed and the debris is being moved.
