A plane that had just missed its landing at tweed new haven airport crashed into 2 houses on charter oak road across from James street in east haven ct. For those who don't know tweed is a small airport half in new haven and half in east haven just north of long island sound. The plane was in contact with the tower and no distress call was issued. The plane was a twin engine turbo prop and was attempting a instrumental assisted landing after it missed its first landing, it had departed teterboro airport in New Jersey about 25 min earlier. Two houses were directly hit and were fully envolved as well as at least one car upon fd arrival. The houses were close to the airport however there is a distance and multipul other houses in between. Media reports one house was empty and the other was occupied by a mother and two children ages 1 and 13. The mother made it out but unfortunately the children did not make it out. There were no survivors on the plane and it is unknown how many were on the plane. East Haven responded with a full box assignment and immediately request mutual aide from new haven who responded with a full box and Branford who responded with a full group for RIT. East haven and Branford took one house and new haven took the other.

New haven response was engines 16, 5(65ft quint 500gal water 500gal foam), 17, squad 1, truck 3, emergency 1(medic unit), cars 31(chief), 32 (deputy Chief), 33 (east battalion chief), 36 ( director of training/ safety off), 38 ( asst chief administration), 39 ( asst chief operations)

New Haven also staged squad 2 with the LDH wagon and truck 1 with car 44 (foam truck) at there Woodward ave station which is about a mile away.
