9/18/12 2 Female Police Officers Lured to their Deaths, Manchester - UK

2 unarmed Female Greater Manchester Police Officers were shot and killed today whilst responding to a report of a burglary in Hattersley, Greater Manchester.

They were lured there by a man wanted by police in connection with 2 murders. 13 shots where fired at the 2 Police Officers and a grenade was also used.

Rest in peace guardians of the peace.

This incident has raised the debate as to whether the british police force should be routinely armed, in my humble opinion, no, it would change the face of the country forever, and even if these two brave female officers were armed it would have made no difference.

This kind of event is rare in the free world, and even rarer here in the UK, if fact on mainland UK i think it is a first in the history of the police force, hopefully the last.

Incidents like this in our part of the world Rodent always do. But like you im happy with keeping the Irish Garda? (Police) mainly unarmed. As we have seen many times just because you carry a gun don't mean you are safe.

The example i would give (although i know it would be a special case) is the Police Service of Northern Ireland are an armed force, patrol in armored vehicles and 2 officers have been lured to their deaths in the recent past and they are attacked daily.
