In the early afternoon hours of Tuesday, July 11th, while the Baldwin Fire Dept. and mutual aid units were operating on the scene of a Yale Place house fire the standby cos. were dispatched to a report of smoke from the house at the intersection of Park Ave. and Southard St. When the standby cos. [Merrick Engine 641, Point Lookout-Lido Engine 253, Lynbrook Ladder 427, and East Rockaway Ambulance 4081] arrived on scene they were met with smoke showing from a home on Park Ave. Upon further investigation firefighters found an extinguished fire in a bedroom on the first floor of a two and a half story private dwelling. Although no working fire was transmitted at this scene firefighters did stretch two hand lines and put at least one of them into operation. Freeport Ladder 218 and Oceanside Ladder 2442 were also among the units on scene. Lynbrook Chief of Dept. Ambrosio [429] had command of the incident. Text courtesy K2M Photography.
