Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver’s Statement on this Evening’s One-Alarm Fire:
“Bayonne Fire Department was dispatched at 1829hrs on a report of smoke from a house at 52 Silver Street. Arriving firefighters found smoke and fire in the front of a two-story, two-family home. Firefighters used two handlines to extinguish the blaze, which was declared under control at 1847hrs. No injuries were reported, and a fire investigation has determined the cause to be accidental in nature. A total of five people have been displaced and are under the care of Bayonne OEM and the Red Cross.
Our firefighters responded quickly and took immediate action to prevent this fire from spreading further into the structure, or from extending to neighboring homes, which are just feet apart.”
The City of Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis
