For those who don't know, Bridgeport is the largest city in CT, with 145,000 people living in 16 square miles.
The Bridgeport Fire Department currently runs 9 Engines, 4 Ladders, 1 Rescue, 1 Safety Officer, 1 Haz-Mat./Decon. Unit, 1 Command/Air & Light/Rehab. Unit, and 3 Fireboats out of 8 Fire Stations in 2 Battalions, each commanded by an Assistant Chief, who report to a Deputy Chief per shift. The BFD normally runs around 14,000 calls a year, and get around 1-3 Working Fires a month.
The six fires yesterday, 12-24-12, are a record for number of confirmed working fires per day in Bridgeport as far as I know.
