"Great work by members of FDNY Marine Company 3 this weekend. Marine 3 responded to an electrical fire aboard an 18-foot high-tech rowboat, fitted with solar panels and other electronics. The boat was a mile offshore near Ft. Tilden. The special rowboat was designed to row from NYC to the UK.
Marine 3 members operated a handline to extinguish the fire while also working to keep the vessel afloat. It was towed to Sheepshead Bay. There were no injuries."
