Its been pretty unreal up here in the blizzard zone. My family have been lucky thusfar since our power has been on but social media is flooded with SOS calls from people who have been out for days and their homes are now near freezing internal temps.

Bunch of useless asshat motorists and truckers went out in the storm despite the bans and gummed up all the roads, then called 911 to be rescued leading to a lot of apparatus getting hung up in drifts. First reports of DOAs frozen in their cars have started to trickle in, with more sure to follow.

Per FBNY, BFD tried to respond to a structure fire and had multiple rigs get stuck enroute, those that got close had to walk to the scene from the nearest arterial since the side street was impassible. The occupants got out safe but the house was lost.

Its a hairy situation up here for sure. The band is currently south of the metro area dumping 3ft there today but will be back over the city tonight before breaking up amd dissapating, so its a major rush against time for emergency crews to get to people before we get another half foot or more tonight.

Monroe County New York (Rochester) again has sent teams (6) to help Buffalo and surrounding communities. They are going to stay there a minimum of 3 days, possibly longer depending on how the situation develops.

I hope when the Buffalo City council meets for budget hearings they remember these brave men and women who fought winter at its worst and triumped in the end.

Saw this shared post on FBNY last night. Pretty wild pics of life of the BFD over the weekend.

Temps here are above freezing and the sun is out today, so hopefully that will assist somewhat with the SAR efforts still underway throughout the county.
