Busy in Philly

Their fifths were never equivelent to FDNY's in that they used to run with half our manning. Is it still like that? We would hear their multiples on their fire frequency every night in the late sixties and early seventies since it came over the Brooklyn frequency and cut out our transissions on occasion. We had a guy in the truck who travelled nationally who always mentioned the manning issues.
 
PFD currently operates 2 Ladder Towers and 2 Snorkels as front line ladder companies.  Everything else is a 100 foot tiller.  All of the Aerialscopes are gone.  Engine companies are staffed with one officer and three firefighters, ladders are staffed with one and four, squad companies (2) are also staffed with one and four.  The rescue is staffed with one and five.  DCs (2) and BCs (11) still have Aides. 
 
PFD at it again tonight.  3 alarms in the Tacony section of Northeast Philadelphia for a natural gas explosion and fire.  Explosion happened after PFD and the gas utility arrived on scene.  Multiple injuries.  Incredible video on Fox 29 of the actual explosion.  Listen live at East Coast911.com .
