Camden NJ faces a layoff of 1/3 of its fire department and 1/2 of its police department.  This is the largest department in southern NJ and one of the oldest professional department in the country. .

Camden is located across the river from Philadelphia.  The Camden FD is paying the price for government dysfunction failure of businesses in the city.  Three Camden mayors have been jailed for corruption.  The schools and PD are run by the state.  Camden has the highest crime rate in the US.

Camden will implode even if these cuts dont go through(not that im agreeing with the cuts,i dont) that city is just plain and simply doomed. Also i recall camden browns out 4 companies a day(dont know how true that is) i cant see how that is possible when the only have about 10 or so companies.
 
You're right anesti, the whole place is a wreck. I never realized how bad it was until I took my daughter to the USS New Jersey. The waterfront area was nice, getting to it was like driving through WW2 Dresden
