"Extra alarm" fire (CNN says about a dozen trucks, that'd be around a 2-Alarmer in NY) in this historic church today; video here:

Yes it was a 2-11 alarm. 8 engines, 7 or 8 trucks, squad, command van, and a SH*T ton of chiefs.

Fire started at 5 a.m. possibly by workers working in the addict fixing ceiling supports. fire was through the roof with multiple towers ladders in operation.

inside of church is in ok condition... alot of water in the basement also. Francis Cardinal George said there was icicles on the pews.

This fire was raised to a 3-11 alarm. The initial call was received at about 5:30AM, first due companies are only a short distance away. The total response was 12 engine companies, 4 ladder companies and two tower ladders plus support vehicles and everyone with a white turn-out coat. Firefighters were hampered by the cold, the temperature was in the single digits with -20 will chills. In addition the church was undergoing renovation and scaffolding was in place on the sides of the building. Exposures were 1 a street, 2 a school. 3 unknown, and 4 scaffolding/street. There is extensive damage to the roof and water damage to the pews from fire operations and sprinklers but the structural integrity was not compromised. The fire was seated in the middle of the roof area making extenguishment/containment very difficulty. Fire was declared under control at approximately 7:30. :)

what time was itmade a third. i was listening to it and thought it was only a 2

I asked my son and he said it was a 3-11, as well the news reports said it was a 3-11. I work for a delivery company and I was unable to monitor the situation. Getting info from the local buff groups here is impossible. cfd123 has a good handle on stuff but the local groups are more interested in the "coffee wagon", Their web site is out of date with listings of houses that have been closed for 6 months and now have new digs. This is a good department but trying to get info on apparatus deliveries, fires etc, well you would think Bill Bellichek (NE Pats coach) ran the show. But atleast there is a house listing not like Nashville which says it is a matter of national security! What a load of crap!!!! :'(

more info for the fire is they used the spare squad snorkel, which is unmanned. i didnt and havent been able to get the rundowns like before on alot of fires... i know scan america also has arhives and u can listen to the radio activity there, but recording may be broken up by the other radio freq (Main and Englewood)
