"my sympathies and condolences to the families and brothers in Chicago for their loss"

Fire was in a one-story vacant commercial, there was a heavy smoke condition with the fire mainly in offices in the rear. At the time the fire was a still-and-box, comporable to FDNY 10-75 4engines, 3 trucks, a squad and a comm van. Althought the building was vacant and boarded up in the front there was signs of occupancy by vagrants in the rear the plywood was removed. Companies were in the process of overhauling and a search for possible occupants when the roof collapsed taking out the rear wall. The building had a flat roof in the front but the back was a bow-truss. One deceased FF was a one-yeat veteran assigned to TL-34, the other was a 12 year member assigned to Engine 63, detailed to L-16 (same house) Someone has mentioned that this was the 100th anniversary of CFD's greatest loss-of-life, the Stockyards fire. Members of E-49/L33 were at a reading of the listing of those who died at the fire when the MAYDAY calls came over the apparatus radio. :( :'( :(

REST IN PEACE TO THE BROTHERS......& MAY GOD WATCH OVER THE INJURED..... ALSO ....PRAYERS FOR THE COMFORT OF THE ENTIRE CHICAGO FAMILIES

A Very Sad Day for the Brothers and Sisters of the Chicago Fire Dept. who lost Two of their Own. And we pray for the injuried members and the families who have lost so much.
"PRAY FOR THEM AS THEY GO PAST. EVERY RIDE MAY BE THEIR LAST"

BROTHERS, there is a company called Phoenix Graphics online from Gastonia NC that is already selling "memorial" decals through their site and ebay. This is a scam. Local 2 and the Associated Firefighters of Illinois are asking that no one purchase these. Thank-you http://www.affi-iaff.org/index.cfm?zone=....m&HomeID=186815            .........UNQUOTE

It's really sad that someone is trying to make money off of this tragic incident!  Some people certainly have no morals.
