A fire broke out in an apartment in a high rise building in Cincinnati's West End neighborhood. Engine 29, Ladder 29, and District Chief 3 were initially dispatched to an automated fire alarm at a building directly across the street from Station 29. Engine 29 reported smoke coming from a window on what turned out to be the 14th floor and a full 1-Alarm response was dispatched. The incident was upgraded to a 2-Alarm due to the size of the building, though most second alarm companies were not used. The fire started on a couch and was isolated to a single apartment. The apartment's resident was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with life-threatening burns.
