CFD Press Release:
While returning to quarters from another incident, Engine 12 of Camp Washington drove up on fire showing from the middle of a large abandoned commercial structure. This is the old Powell Valve building. A 1-Alarm compliment was immediately dispatched. Due to the size of the structure and the difficulty accessing the fire area a 2nd Alarm was transmitted. An aggressive hose stretch covering a half city block kept this fire contained to an elevator shaft and the immediate surrounding area. No
civilian injuries, 1 firefighter was transported to Good Sam with non-life threatening injuries. This fire is under investigation by FIU. Contact D3 DC Callen with any further inquiries.
