A firefighter from the Cincinnati Fire Department was injured Thursday while battling a fire at a long vacant downtown hotel that was undergoing demolition work. The firefighter suffered minor injuries due to a fall. The fire was in the basement of an old hotel that was undergoing demolition efforts and was believed to have been started by a blow torch. The incident was kept to a Still Alarm response and fire was brought under control in two hours.
Units dispatched: Engine 14, Engine 3, Engine 21 with Vent 21, Ladder 3, Ladder 29, Ladder 19 (initially RAT then placed into service), Ladder 17 (s/c, RAT), Heavy Rescue 14, Medic 3, Medic 19 (s/c to replace M3 on scene), ALS 34 (s/c, dispatched to go to University Hospital to meet injured firefighter), District 1, District 4, Safety Officer 2, Car 3 (asst. chief, Operations), Car 6 (asst. chief, Emergency Management), Car 534 (investigator).
