I am curious about something with all these Nassau county jobs with so many small volly depts responding. Is there a Nassau County fire dispatch? or how does that work?

Nassau County Fire Communitions known as Firecom, operates 24/7. They dispatch for the departments that do not have their own dispatchers.

They will also dispatch (tone out) 911 calls for MVAs and Structure Fires for some departments that have their own dispatchers. This starts an initial response before that department puts out the alarm. They also notify those self dispatching departments of any 911 calls of any other fire calls, as well as requests for an ambulance as per 911 protocol.

They are part of the Nassau County Fire Marshals under the Fire Commission.
