Delray Beach FD FL. Ladder truck versus train mass casualty incident

1115 hours today. Delray Beach FD ladder 115 collided with the high speed Brightline train. Ladder truck is total obliterated and firefighters are seriously hurt. Level 2 mass casualty incident declared. More than 12 people on train injured. Several trauma alerts IMG_0813.jpeg
 
A witness tells BocaNewsNow.com that it appeared the fire truck driver drove the truck AROUND DOWN GATES, thinking that a freight train which had just passed through the intersection was the only train in the area. The fire truck driver apparently didn’t realize that a Brightline Train, coming from the opposite direction, had also activated the crossing gates. The fire truck got struck by the Brightline Train.

Yes look at the front of the locomotive- the FAST bag and Extrication tool is imbedded in the front of the train. The fly section of the tower with the bucket is completely detached and over 400 feet from the rear axles. In another photo you can see a fire helmet several hundred feet from the cab of the ladder truck. I truly hope and pray that the members on board completely recover from any injuries.
