At 21:45 hours on the night of Thursday, May 11th, 2023, the East Williston Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house fire on Downing Street off Congress Avenue. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with a fire on the first floor of a two-story private dwelling that was under construction. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid companies notified. Firefighters stretched two hand lines, put at least one hand line into operation, and the fire was quickly knocked down before it could extend further. East Williston was assisted on scene by units from Mineola, Williston Park, Westbury and Albertson. The cause of the fire is under investigation and there were no reported injuries. East Williston Chief of Department DiPasquale [8100] had command of the incident. Text courtesy K2M Photography.
