In the early morning hours of Friday, October 7th, 2022, the Elmont Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house fire on Ashley Drive off Margaret Drive. When firefighters arrived on scene they were met with fire and smoke showing from a one-story private dwelling. Moments later a signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. Firefighters stretched two hand lines, put one hand line into operation, and had the main body of fire quickly knocked down. Extensive overhaul was needed in the basement and on the first floor of the residence. All occupants made it out of the home safely and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Elmont Engine 702 and Ladder 708 were the first engine and truck companies to arrive on scene. Elmont Chief of Department Santina [7010] had command of the incident. Text courtesy K2M Photography.
