In the past, were there any other staffed apparatus housed @ Engine 72/Sat.2 ? The firehouse looks quite big for 5 or 6 men on duty

As far as I can tell it's only ever housed E72/Sat 2.  From the looks of it a truck company was planned but never assigned.

Since opened E-72 has been the only unit with the exception of the Bronx Borough Command, many rumors of a truck company moving or opening up but so far all just rumors.

There was a Ladder 57 proposed and they went as far as assigning an apparatus for it at the firehouse (a 1968 ALF, former L103). ;)

The 7th Division was headquartered there in the early 90's when their quarters on Webster Ave (48 / 56) were being renovated.

My Aunt and Uncle lived there in Throgs Neck.  I do remember a ladder being there.  This firehouse has tall narrow windows along the Expressway Service Road side, so you could see the ladder, a TDA. Actually, it is a really nice building.

The house was built for Eng 72 & Lad 57. Eng 88-2 became E-72 in 1972.

The number 57 appeared on the station & the rig was in quarters but the company was never organized. With the opening of Eng 72, the Silver Beach Vol. FD closed there doors.

Sat 2 appeared there three years after the fire house was opened.
