FDNY Line of Duty Death
December 16, 1951 - LODD
Fireman Frank E. Wolf, 41
Ladder 8
FDNY. Tribeca - Manhattan, New York
Fireman Wolf died from injuries he sustained while being involved in accident while on the Ladder Truck.
Ladder 8 was returning to quarters from a car fire earlier that morning. At Worth and Church Streets, a “jalopy” operated by a youth without insurance or a driver’s license collided with Ladder 8, throwing Fireman Frank E. Wolf to the ground and causing a fractured skull. Fireman Wolf died at Beekman Hospital the night he was injured. He was forty-one years old, married and the father of two children. He was a member of Ladder 8 since being appointed to the Department in 1937. (From "The Last Alarm" by Boucher, Urbanowicz & Melahn, 2007)
RIP. Never forget
