Fireman Logan died from the injuries he sustained while responding to an alarm after being involved in a collision with a bus West 127th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue.
Fireman John J. Logan of Engine 37 was killed when Engine 37 collided with a Fifth Avenue bus. The accident at West 127th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue was blamed on the bus driver for not giving the right of way to the fire truck. Fireman Logan was thirty-seven years old and lived at 1307 Madison Avenue. He died from concussion of the brain, a punctured lung and other injuries. They were responding to a fire at Seventh Avenue and West 132nd Street. (From "The Last Alarm" by Boucher, Urbanowicz & Melahn, 2007)
