Fireman Barragy died while fighting a fire in a freight car of the Long Island Railroad at 2nd Avenue and 65th Street on December 24, 1938. The fire was reported at 9:51 P.M. and Fireman Barragry collapsed and died at 10:05 P.M. from a heart attack caused by overexertion. He was a member of the Fire Department since 1920.
