Innocent until proven guilty (in a court of law) beyond a reasonable doubt! The media has a tendency to convict first. also, last time I checked their is a constitutional amendment that addresses that but maybe it doesn't apply in NYC?

Well, the citizens are going to be sleeping more soundly tonight after this. I hope they didn't confiscate his tannerite stash. Even children know that the ATF videotapes all gun shows and correlates license plates (except at the Southern border). And what the heck is a firearms license?

Firearms Licensing:
Subject to limited exceptions, possession of a handgun or rifle/shotgun in New York City requires a license (for handguns) or a permit (for rifles/shotguns) issued by the NYPD License Division.

https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/laws/PEN/265.01-B
§ 265.01-b Criminal possession of a firearm.
A person is guilty of criminal possession of a firearm when he or she:
(1) possesses any firearm or; (2) lawfully possesses a firearm prior to
the effective date of the chapter of the laws of two thousand thirteen
which added this section subject to the registration requirements of
subdivision sixteen-a of section 400.00 of this chapter and knowingly
fails to register such firearm pursuant to such subdivision.

Criminal possession of a firearm is a class E felony.
At a bare minimum, we expect NYC FF's to adhere to NYC/NY State Law. Too Much ?

After 911 the FDNY finally got the recognition that we never had before, even during the war years, and recently 2 people have brought us back in the dumps. A captain so smart he was stupid and now a FF arming himself for whatever reason he thought he needed to.

In the vast majority of the country, most of the stuff this guy had is completely legal. I know a couple of people who would call what the Rescue 4 member had in his possession the "beginner's basic combo pak".

However, 'this guy' does Not Live in ' a vast majority of the country'.
He Works In and For the City of New York, in a Uniformed Service of the City, and whose members are actually
engaged in a degree of Observation, Report, and Enforcement of NYC Code and Law.
This is a Higher Standard of Conduct than Ordinary Citizens living in 'a vast majority of the country'. This FF, Heroic and Dedicated
as he may be, fails to meet the Professional Standards of The World's Greatest Fire Department, If you can't handle the Professional
Responsibility of this Position then maybe FDNY is not the job for you.
"Every career as a New York City Firefighter begins by taking an oath of service, a solemn promise to do whatever you can to save the lives of others. That moment was the first step on a road of bravery, as you have committed yourself to a career that many dream of, but few can actually achieve. It is for this reason that our members are held to a higher standard, charged with doing the right thing, on and off the job, no matter what. That is why we’ve earned the name ‘The Bravest,’ a reputation that has been proven by so many men and women who came before you."
FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro
FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro presided over the graduation for 133 Probationary Firefighters on Sept. 29 during a special ceremony at the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn.

In this part of the country guilt is always assumed when a firearm is involved. Now if the guy didn't have a permit or FFL that was certainly dumb. Actually the hi-cap mags probably will get you in more trouble than anything else.

Once this info is released to the public, even if innocence prevails, the public will never hear it and forgive them. All they know is that 2 Firemen violated the law and smeared FDNY's reputation.
