If you have a Trunked scanner and put in the UHF Talkgroup/ 800 Mhz talk group you will be able to hear alot more. I was hearing fireground audio from ataten island and brooklyn last week.

So the old 153.830 is no longer the primary tactical (fireground) frequency.  Is there a default FG frequency or are you saying its a trunked UHF (800mhz) talkgroup?  What about these from radioreference.com?  Just like FDNY97 I guess I would like to know what is the most likely FG frequency for a job in Manhattan and the Bronx; is any of these (486.1125?) or something else?  I would think all the handie-talkies regardless of company, battalion or even division would have to be set to the same channel and that must be coordinated daily if there is not a default channel already identified.  Thanks!

TAC 1, shown in Reply 2, is the primary tactical channel.  TAC 2 is the secondary tactical channel, used to avoid interference at a second/nearby incident and occasionally as a second tactical channel at a major incident, but the latter usage is rare.

The Department often retransmits major incident tactical channel traffic (normally TAC 1) on one of the six talk groups comprising the Department Administrative Radio System (DARS) in the 400 mHz trunked radio system.  Either talk group 4880 or 4896 is usually utilized.

Thanks.  As I type this I'm listening to the FG channel broadcasted on thebravest.com during Bronx 10-75 box 3815.  Earlier today I heard marine companies as well as HazMat and Rescue 2 come up "on 800".  Is that 800mhz freq a trunked freq?  It sounds like thebravest.com FG covers much more than the Tac-1/TAC-2 channels

To clarify:  NYC (DOITT) operates two UHF trunked radio systems, one in the 400 mHz range and one in the 800 mHz range.  FDNY uses both.  The N2NOV.net website has specifics, including talk group designations.

Good info there...so what kind of activity would accur on 6B "FDNY Ops" that wouldn't use TAC-1 or other non-trunked system?
