FDNY MEDAL DAY BOOKS....2008 TO PRESENT.

I was down at Medal Day today with the family of legendary "Smokey Joe Martin". Every other year when the award is presented the family gets together, greet the medal recipient, take photos and then have a fantastic lunch...today it was at historic Fraunces Tavern. The family always invites the medal recipent and his family, but usually the medal winner heads off to the Division Party. Non-the -less, the family holds a wonderful celebration celebrating the life of Chief Smokey Joe and family unity!... The tradition has been passionately maintained and well attended by family members traveling long distances for 35 years since the first award. I will also add, the tradition has been supported by FDNY Brother Martin O, retired member of E 53 and 88, Salute to you Marty for your outstanding commitment and hard work arranging the preparation of the medal and coordinating the comfort and well-being of family members proud to be a part of our FDNY family on this special occasion celebrating this years hero and legendary hero!
