The spare fleet is very Fluid and the amount and types of apparatus changes regularly as spares wear out and new apparatus are placed in service. From being an outsider it seems the spare pool struggles to keep sufficient amounts of 95? Tower Ladders and Tillers available in the pool. It is not uncommon to see a company assigned a Tiller operating a rear mount spare or a company assigned a 95? tower ladder operating a 75? spare or even a rear mount. There are also a couple spares lettered as ?FSD? these apparatus are Fleet Service?s Division Spares. They are spare Engines and rear mounts that have the majority of the equiptment already on the rig Similiar to a reserve engine or truck. These are used when the shop has repairs to do that generally take less than a day to do so the company does not have to switch all the gear between apparatus
