FDNY's New rigs

tower ladder 50 rig is a 98 and has been put out of service for major mechanical repairs at least 3 times this year...id say they ran a spare rig more than their own

Are you sure they haven't put the flashing "40" on the new rig?  They had already taken it off the old rig and I know some of the company's have started customizing their new rigs.

one major thing i do like, obviously been an outsider on this forum, is the sense of 'identity' FDNY rigs now have with the new 'Q' siren, a proper FD noise.

Saying, 'This a firetruck coming up your ass' not an ambo or PD..

Nice fellas at 245/161. Stopped by with my daughter when we went to Coney Island last year. Very hospitable group !

YES.  It's a 97 model, not the raised-roof Marauder II.

On 81's new Engine I saw 4 trays for hard suction hose. I would assume 2 are for hard suction drafting hose and 1 more for the more flexible hydrant hook-up, what's the fourth tray for?

two are for drafting and two are for flexible hydrant hook up.

A clarification re earlier postings regarding the drafting and hydrant connection equipment on the 2000 GPM pumpers:

Four trays on the left carry two flexible 6-inch PVC suction sections for drafting only, one 6-inch section for hydrant connection or drafting, and one 3?-inch section with 4?-inch butts for hydrant connection.

The Jan-Feb issue of Fire Apparatus Journal has this list:

311, 238, 282, 79, 93, 80, 332, 310, 234, 14, 33, 84, 217, 318, 264, 315 and 254, in that expected order.  All except 311 currently have 1998 1000gpm rigs, 311's 2002 rig was wrecked. 

This information has to be out of date, though, given the lead time required for magazine publication.

dont see 253 on that list

Have they gotten themselves into somewhat of a routine with the new rigs yet?

I mean is there a time pattern developing. For delivery of the rig.
From the time they post it "delivered" on the Seagrave site. To the time it is actually sitting in the firehouse ready for fire duty?

I understand the 1st few ones delivered did (and not surprised) have a few "growing pains" so it was to be expected that the "in the field" time would be varied. I would have to believe that they (the Mech's) have, or are very close to getting there flow going.

Dont know if this was asked of recent but, anyone have an update on the new Rearmount/Towerladders?

E266 already got into an accident, backing thier new rig into thier quarters... don't think that's part of the "break-in" process...  :-\
