Incident Location: 300 Garden City Plaza
On the morning of Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, the Garden City Fire Department was called to an automatic fire alarm at an office building on Garden City Plaza. Those first to arrive on scene were met with a smoke condition upon making entry and moments later a signal ten [working fire] was transmitted for a fire in the basement of the building. Firefighters utilized the building’s standpipe system and put at least one hand line into operation off it. The main body of fire was quickly extinguished and contained. During the incident a second alarm was transmitted due to the size of the building and out of an abundance of caution. One minor injury was reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. All fire department units were under the command of Garden City Chief of Department Taunton [1400]. (Text Credit K2M)
