Do any old timers out there remember "Harry the Bag?" He was a portly gentleman who made the rounds of FDNY firehouses with a very large satchel full of everyday items like shaving cream, batteries, snacks, shoe laces, etc. He would walk in a offer items for sale to the brothers. You never knew when he would show up. I wonder how many firehouses he visited and was he limited only to Brooklyn? Did he go to police stations as well as firehouses? He was really a character. Some of you must remember him.
