A helicopter flying at 600 feet hits a 1000 foot radio tower just east of downtown Houston two hours ago. Engine 17 just up the street on Navigation Blvd. It was flying west out of Ellington Field, so all the downtown lights would have been behind the tower- clear weather. Evidently no buildings hit.

At this time, HFD has no reports of any injuries or fatalities. Specifics of the helicopter itself and where it was headed are unknown.
