In the early morning hours of Sunday, September 17th, the Hewlett Fire Dept. along with mutual aid cos. operated on the scene of a working fire on Park Lane. Firefighters put at least two hand lines into operation for a deck fire at the rear of a two-story private dwelling with extension into the residence. Firefighters’ efforts were partially hampered on the exposure three side of the home where the electrical service was burning and dropped. All occupants made it out of the home safely and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Nassau County Hazmat was requested to the scene to secure multiple propane tanks and had to perform a burn off on at least one tank. Hewlett First Asst. Chief Joseph Velotti [3011] had command of the incident. Text courtesy K2M Photography.
