On November 17, 2022, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 8:05 a.m. for a building fire at 84-573 Kepue Street in Makaha and responded initially with 13 HFD units staffed with 41 personnel. The first unit arrived at the scene at 8:13 a.m. to find flames and smoke emanating from the front of the single-story residential structure.
HFD personnel immediately began an offensive fire attack while conducting primary search of the house. An adult female was the only one in the house at the time of the fire and she safely evacuated uninjured. Fire crews could not determine at this time if there were smoke detectors in the house. The fire was under control by 8:18 a.m. and extinguished at 8:34 a.m.
The HFD notified the American Red Cross Hawaii to assist the displaced occupant and also requested the HFD Fire Investigator to this scene to determine the cause of the fire and provide damage estimates.
