Indianapolis house fire spreads to exposures 1/5/25

A fire in a house under construction in Indianapolis on Sunday spread to two exposures causing damage and radiant heat melted siding on multiple other houses. The fire was marked as a working incident prior to crews arriving on scene when Engine 16 reported a column of smoke could be seen from outside the firehouse. The Safety chief initially took command of the incident and requested two additional engines and one additional ladder truck. The incident was brought under control after 45 minutes. Only one of the exposures was occupied the other was still under construction. The cause is under investigation.

(L15 was involved in a crash while en route to the scene and was replaced by L43 after the request for additional companies was put in.)
