Lowell FD was cut 25%. 

It is now about a 13 mile run for the 3rd alarm ladder from Lawrence.  \Both cities have significant fire threat with many large, old manufacturing buildings and wood triple deckers.  13 miles is a long response for a 4th truck in a large city.

13 miles is a long run anywhere under any conditions.  Remember also the rumor that New England has been known to, occasionally, have snow storms and other less-than-optimal weather driving conditions.  Once again, congratulations to whichever politicians had the foresight to test the chauffers' ability to get there on time to put the wet stuff on the red stuff before the fire burns itself out and destroys homes, businesses and personal property.
