On the afternoon of Sunday, July 3rd, 2022, the Lynbrook Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house fire on Smith Street off Pearsall Avenue. As units were on the way Nassau County Fire Communications advised them that they were going to a report of a fire on the second floor and that a Valley Stream Chief was on scene recommending the first engine pick up a hydrant as it looks like they’re going to work. Lynbrook Engine 421 was the first Lynbrook fire unit to arrive on scene and transmitted a signal ten [working fire] for a fire in a two and a half story peaked roof private dwelling. Firefighters went on to stretch two hand lines and put at least one of those hand lines into operation. The fire, which was located between the second floor and the attic, was quickly knocked down before it could extend further. All occupants made it safely out of the residence and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Text courtesy K2M Photography.
