Has the FDNY still got any Mack towers left in the fleet?
Last time I saw a roster ( 2007 ) there was 1 75ft at the rock plus 6 or 7 75ft models kept as spares,
and 1 95ft tower was running as a spare

does anyone know the current situation , or have they all passed into history

They are all gone.  Seven Mack TLs were disposed of in 2008, Four were 1988 models, two in September, one in August and one in February. One was a 1987 model disposed of in July, a 1986 model disposed of in September. The oldest, a 1985 model was the last to be disposed of, this one on November 5, 2008.

FNDY disposes of these Macks and they wind up in so may other departments refurbished, and resold and refurbished. Just read a story of E274's 1984 Mack CF pumper, originally belonging to E90.  When it was disposed of in the early 90's it went to a Pennsylvania Dept - Old Forge, who in 1999 sold it to a Texas Dept.  Sounds like the energizer bunny, they just keep going and going.

Here"s one for you to add to this. Norwich, Ct is running as a spare Ladder former FDNY Ladder 109s, "1970", Yes "1970 Seagrave Rearmount". Before it went to Norwich, it served a few years with the Taftville Vol Fire dept which is a section of Norwich. Years ago, when the Taftville Dept got this rig, they had the side phone booth removed, and the six man fully enclosed cab was cut down to make a mother in law jump seat set up.
But this rig is "STILL" in service as a reserve with the Norwich, Ct Fire Dept. It is quartered at Engine 2 on North Main St.
www.norwichfire.org  has a picture of it on its web site. Click on Fire Apparatus

Thanks for the info.  I went to the site and clicked on the photo. Newly painted, it looks like new!

About a week ago I was traveling on Richmond Rd. following Reserve Ladder 704 and noticed that it was now a 1994-95 rearmount. In fact, it had been renumbered Ladder 41 with duct tape over the 704.
