I know this if out of NYC but I was wondering if any one knew about the FLYING SQUAD in The New Orleans Fire Department.801 Girod Street Second District Chief & Flying Squad. I know the London Police Department - Flying Squad deals with Major crimes larceny etc..  But this is FD. Any clue on what the Flying Squad of New Orleans does? Thanks

From what I can tell based on the NOFD's website and various other forums, they are basically specialized manpower units similar to the Rescues/Squads of FDNY.

They run a rig much like a heavy rescue, although I don't know what type of gear they carry. Here's a link to a video from about 14 years ago which shows them arriving at a house fire in what was then their rig . . . a Ford C-model. It's at the very end of the flick.


They run with a Pierce rig now:
