To those of us who are 50+, what were you doing when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. I was aircrew in a O-2 Forward Air Coontroller aircraft working an air strike in the Ashau Valley near the Laotion border. Progress reports were transmitted over "Guard", the emergency frequency. It was middle of the day for us, my wife says it was the middle of the night for her. RIP Neil Armstrong.

7-20-69 i was working in LAD*108 ...we were still  on Siegel St & we were quickly returning to qtrs from a run a short time before the scheduled landing.....when we got there we discovered that our black & white TV from the kitchen (only 1 TV in the whole house back then) had been stolen (most probably by someone wanting to see the landing).......we jumped on the Rig & went lights & siren over to ENG*237 on Morgan Ave arriving with about 30 seconds to spare before the landing.

For those with high blood pressure ignore this post. For the others do a web search for Bart Sibrel, you will get several hits. Heard this man on a Chicago radio station, he is a wack-job. He says we never landed on the moon, it was all a hoax. When he confronted Buzz Aldrin about swearing on a Bible to say he walked on the moon, well Buzz clocked him!! :)GG

Neil Armstrong buried at sea

WASHINGTON ? The first man to walk on the moon has been buried at sea.

NASA says Neil Armstrong's cremated remains were buried in the Atlantic Ocean on Friday during a ceremony aboard the USS Philippine Sea.

Armstrong was a Navy fighter pilot before joining the space program. He died last month in Ohio at age 82. His burial follows a memorial service in Washington on Thursday.

NASA photographs show Armstrong's widow, Carol Armstrong, accepting a folded American flag during the ceremony, which NASA said included a bugler and a rifle salute.

The space agency didn't give the location of the ceremony. The ship's homeport is Mayport, Fla.
