What is the fdny planning on doing with all these boats, they must have at least 3 spare 33ft boats that are brand new, all the older boats that the 33' replaced ( marine 1a and the summer boats). The spare/reserve big boats the mckeaon, gov Alfred smith, firefighter, and not sure if the Kane is still around, but a lot of boats. Is this a differnt contract the  the thread that was posted not to long ago for a new boat similar to marine 6??

I would bet it's for one boat, midsized 60-70 feet in length high speed response.  That way they would have 2 of the large boats, 2 midsized fast response ones and all the small ones.

Ugh....boats

Lets hope the city can get a few new engines together before worrying about more expensive boats.

I'm assuming if the extension isn't granted the money is lost and FDNY has to apply for another grant?  Seems like it took them forever to start the process since the article says the grant was given in 2009.

Anything ever come of this ??
I'm sure they're being built, they don't just appear overnight, lol

I'm aware it takes time to build a fire boat. I was curious to the status due to the fact it was awarded quite a while back
