Along with the New London FD (3 Engines, 1 Truck, 2 EMS Ambulances), the Pequannock Bridge FD and Sub Base FD responded mutual aid from Groton, along with the Waterford FD.

In addition, the Norwich FD responded with Truck 1 and Battalion 1, about a 15 mile ride. That doesn't happen very often. The last time that happened was in 2013 for a large fire in the downtown New London area.

Last year a few members from this site visited the New London and Norwich FDs.

The New London FD responded into Norwich in April, 2008 for Connecticut's largest occupied apartment fire. A total of 120 Occupied Units destroyed in a fast spreading fire in an apartment complex known as the Peach Tree Apts.

One of the officers we visited in New London, Lt. Waters, was just promoted to Battalion Chief.

15 mile run for Norwich, here in TN we call that 2nd due! ::)

In some places in Virginia (and Texas, and Nebraska, where I used to live) it would be 1st Due.
